Hi guys! Last friday, September 22nd my group and me taught the first day of the practices. We were the second group of the day in room 1 with the little kids from 6 to 9 years. Also, my classmates from the first group taught too. I really like their warm up because it was a good idea to know more about the kids in the activity my classmate Gaby asked to the kids that pass to the from and take a piece paper of the table where she had some questions like what's your favorite movie?, what's your favorite color, and so on. I noticed that the kids enjoyed the activity and help to us to know our new students.
Also, i like the way that Gaby explain to the kids the family members because she used her own family to explain them, my classmate Mary made a good job too because she was monitoring the worksheets that she gave to the children.
In addition, my classmate Natalia was the last teacher to finish the first class. She made that the students describe their own drawings, but unfortunately she
didn't have time to finish the last activity that she already prepared for the kids. It was nice to see the first group in action.
Then, my classmate liliana started the second class with a fun activity in which the students stood up and touched the family members that teacher liliana asked them. Besides, she introduced the topic that was the verb be, and it was a little difficult for her because she was nervous, but in spite of that the children undertood her.
Afterward, i started with the practice in which the first activity was that i chose one or two children, and i asked to the others students if she/ he or they was is or are. Sometimes students answered wrong, but i correct them.
Moreover, i gave to them a worksheet, and explain them what were they going to do. I made the example on the floor because i could not use the board, but
i was surprised because the kids finished fast.
In addition, i finish with a memory game in which the kids put together the picture that represented the subject with the correct verb be, and the group that finished first were the winner of the game.
Finally, my classmate Yesenia finished the class with an oral activity in which the children made short sentences with the verb be.
The wrap up activity was really nice, and the kids enjoyed it because they throw a dice, and make sentences too.
To conclude, it was a good experience and i recognize that i made some mistakes too because i am not perfect, but i hope the next class will be better than this.
